Our Story

The barn stone was the foundation of the barn, which was the centerpiece of the farm. The barn itself was often the first structure built on a farm, even before the house. The stability and permanence of the barn was crucial to the survival of the farm throughout generations. Strong farms and families built communities that weathered the wind and weather by supplying them with food and products. Just as the barn stone attaches the barn to the earth beneath it, the food from the local community connects us to the farmers and land around us. Today, as throughout history, a community that feeds itself thrives and flourishes

Much of the food we consume these days travels hundreds of miles before it reaches our plate. This not only compromises the freshness and quality of what we eat, it results in an export in money from our local economy and a breakdown of farmer to customer connections. In answer to this, a local food movement has been spreading & to support our local farmers and producers we are committed to sourcing local products for our menu items whenever they are available. If we are what we eat, we would like to think of ourselves as fresh spring berries, fall pumpkin pie, and homemade butter, all produced right here in Ohio by our neighbors and friends.

Just as the barn stone remains, today the culture and traditions of our locally produced food has been passed down though generations. From growing, through preparation, local food is the mark of the community which created it, just as the barn is the token of the farm, and family, which built it. We hope you will enjoy the experience of making the center of our local community the center of your plate.
